Build the Athlete Twin with us.

Opti-U is choosing a small group of design partner clubs. Each one helps shape a performance digital twin for every player in its squad, two seasons before the product goes on general sale.

Why it matters

Availability is the number every club already counts.

Across 24 European clubs over 11 seasons, lower injury burden and higher match availability were associated with higher league position (Hägglund et al., 2013). Howden puts wages paid to injured players in Europe's top five men's leagues at €3.45bn from 2020 to 2025. The data to act earlier already exists at most clubs, split across GPS, wearables, wellness forms, medical notes and fixtures. The Athlete Twin brings it together around each player.

Squad availability for a fictional club: 1,790 availability days, 93.1% of roster days, beside a projection of available players over the next 14 days with its range

What clubs get

Every player modelled. Every discipline served.

The twin sits above the GPS and athlete management systems a club already pays for, so nothing gets ripped out.

  1. <01>

A digital twin of every player

Built from GPS load, session RPE, wellness check-ins, availability, practitioner decisions and, with the player's consent, their own wearable.

  2. <02>

A morning picture that builds itself

An availability board and a list of the players who changed since yesterday, ranked by how much they changed.

  3. <03>

    Forecasts and risk modelling

Readiness, injury, illness, physical burnout and performance dip forecasts, each with its range and the signals behind it.

  4. <04>

    A portal for each discipline

Medical, performance, sports science and S&C, coaching, analysis, nutrition, psychology and leadership each get their own view and access tier.

  5. <05>

    A record of every call

Each decision is logged with the alternatives weighed, building a history of what worked for which player that no club can reconstruct later.

  6. <06>

    GDPR by design

The club controls its training and availability data, and each player controls their personal physiology. A data protection impact assessment and Appropriate Policy Document are in place before any club data flows.

  7. <07>

    A twin that travels

With the player's authorisation, the twin can move on a transfer and be shared during a loan, so staff start from an established normal.

The programme

Two seasons, built around the club's staff.

Stop/go gates are agreed at the start, and every gate is measured against the club's own data.

  1. <01>

    2027/28: design year

Opti-U builds with the club's staff at no licence fee, followed by four months of shadow running from spring 2028.

  2. <02>

    2028/29: first live season

The twin runs live in the squad at a reduced licence, with data collection and analysis carried out alongside an academic partner.

  3. <03>

    After the programme

Design partners convert to a preferential licence, fixed for three seasons.

What we ask

What a design partner brings.

  1. <01>

    A named sponsor

A Head of Performance sponsor and sign-off from the medical lead.

  2. <02>

    Historical data

At least two seasons of GPS, session RPE and availability data.

  3. <03>

    Player involvement

A players' representative consulted before go-live.

  4. <04>

    Openness to evidence

Consent to independent evaluation and publication of the results.

Design partner places are limited.

The sports layer is a working design prototype on simulated data today. Design partners decide what it becomes.
